What's in it for me?
That's the question we ask ourselves EVERY SINGLE DAY. When you watch any YouTube video your subconscious mind will ask that question. When you have a potential client talking with you about a new project. When you want to make a YouTube video yourself.
Have I asked myself that question when I created my YouTube channel? Hell yeah, I did. I still am every time I come up with a new idea.
So... is it selfish?
Yep. To some extent.
Is it a bad thing?
No. I believe it's not. As long as the intention behind "what's in it for me" is good.
So you might ask: what are your intentions?
To make an impact, to create stories that matter, to help fellow filmmakers, to provide for my family, to have a life full of work but free of the 9-5 routine.
To only name a few.
Well, I think you know that I'm not making YouTube videos for the sake of money alone. Serving and sharing with you is more important. But sure, money is a factor as well. I have a family I need to provide for and I just need to make a living like all of us.
Ad revenue is not something I'm after. I actually disable ads for the first 24 hours for my new uploads. I just don't want to interrupt viewing experience for those of you who have notification bells active.
But I really want to focus more on another source of income. The one that is focused a lot around the community factor. Interacting with you guys.
It's called Patreon and the idea is that you can support someone with a small amount each month and get some extra goodies in return. It took me a while but I finally made a video introduction for my Patreon page. Please watch it and feel free to share your thoughts đ
Have a good day and good luck with your next edit!
